Posted on 19 August 2009 by admin

This is a quick tip.

One of the biggest Design mistakes in any medium, be it Video, Paper or Web, is to design your product for you, not your visitor.

Whenever you design a site or a page remember these two simple statements.

  1. My site his here to help my customers.
  2. How does this page help my customers.

Web Design Tips 1 – Plan, Plan, Plan

Posted on 17 August 2009 by admin

At Kelpie Media, we have a saying. Fail to prepare, prepare to fail.

This is never more important than when designing a new site. With every client we sit down and do a paper structure before we even get onto the design elements, as so often something like an ecommerce cart can have an influence on the design. From experience we know that planning for these things before entering the design stage will save a great deal of costly revisions later on.

You can utilise this in your own preliminary work for any design, whether you are using a professional company or not. Simply use a flow diagram software or mind mapping software such as bubbl.us and this will improve your understanding of what you need from your site from the offset.

It’s far better than rushing headlong into the design, and will improve your working relationship with you web designer no end.
